Our Mission

Springboard to Learning & Young Audiences of St. Louis provides programs in the arts, cultures, humanities, and sciences to schools and community organizations. These programs inspire their audiences to embrace knowledge and new experiences that broaden their horizons.

“She taught me so much that sometimes my brain bubbles…”
“I learned that people all the way across the world are just like us.”
“I learned a new way to spell water. It is H20.”
“It was cool that my Springboard teacher was from a country in Africa because I’ve never met anyone from Africa before.”

Springboard to Learning & Young Audiences of St. Louis is the region’s largest provider of in-school arts and cultural integration and enrichment programs serving approximately 75,000 students and teachers each year in elementary and middle schools with 210,000 student contact hours. The 2008-2009 catalog describes 177 unique programs taught by knowledgeable teaching artists and content specialists that are available to schools and community organizations throughout the Saint Louis metropolitan area, the eastern half of Missouri, and the Metro East area of Illinois. Springboard to Learning & Young Audiences has a strong commitment to underserved children. Overall, 59% of the schools served by our programs are defined as having an economically disadvantaged student population as determined by state guidelines. Our programs emphasize “minds-on” and “hands-on” activities that are aligned with state and national education standards.
